DJ Karaba Shares New Song, “Le Sud en Été”

Montreal-based French DJ and producer, DJ Karaba has announced her new EP, Souvenirs out August 11th. Alongside the announcement arrives the first offering from the forthcoming project, the intoxicating new single “Le Sud En Été”, which translates to “The South In The Summer”. The track is self-produced and features an Afrobeat jazz production that lays the ideal foundation for Laurène Pierre-Magnani’s smooth and lush vocals. Taking hold as she waxes poetic on childhood memories and Summers of years past.

Speaking on the new single, Karaba shares, “This one was the very first track that inspired my project. I was going through a tough time when I started working on this track. It was back in 2022, and I felt like I needed to get back to my childhood memories and make a song about how beautiful that time of my life was. I started with the rhythm and then went into melody and all the rest. It was actually a quick process. Then I thought of someone to sing the lyrics on top of it, and Laurène came into my mind. I’ve never talked to her before, and to be quite honest, I never thought she would have even answered, but she did, so I was going f*n crazy, haha!”

The new Souvenirs EP, a follow-up to last year’s debut EP Délivrance, finds Karaba ushering in the Summer through a nostalgic-tipped lens that defies genre. Spanning across influences of jazz, soul, reggae, afrobeat, and more, Karaba designs soundscapes that are vibrant and deeply entrenched in her Congolese roots. Bridging together her love for movement with a multicultural sonic palette.

Karaba has amassed a cult following around the globe due to her personal songs and pulsing productions full of electric and captivating sounds from around the world. Born in Grenoble, France, and relocated to Montreal at the age of seven, Karaba was inspired by music and movement. She got her start as a dancer and moved to Los Angeles in 2014 to pursue her dance career, which later led to performing alongside Drake, Camilla Cabello, and Selena Gomez. In 2016, she decided to pivot her career; drawing inspiration from her love for music as well as her incredible ear for seeking out the most unique sounds she could find, she pursued her newfound passion of becoming a DJ/producer. After enrolling in the DJ Scratch Academy in LA, Karaba started getting invited to perform at various prestigious and glamorous events across North America, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Karaba’s magnetic energy is infectious, and her global sound uplifts listeners as she crafts some of the most intimate and euphoric experiences that resonate with her worldwide fanbase.
